TIRUPATI: The world renowned Tirupati trust took an historic decision to sell golden mangalasutras on a cost to cost basis to the devotees visiting Tirumala.

The decision was taken at the TTD’s trust board meeting held at Tirumala on Monday.

The annual budget of the richest Hindu temples trust in the world crossed the 5000 crore mark for the first time in the history of the TTD as the trust board approved budget estimates for Rs.5141.74 crore for 2024-2025 on Monday.

Disclosing details of the certain key resolutions passed by the trust board, TTD chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy said the Tirupati trust will procure golden mangalasutras weighing 5 grams and 10 grams in about 4-5 designs and will place them at the “Lotus feet” of Lord Venkateswara for the almighty’s blessings and will later sell them on a cost to cost basis without any profit motive to prospective brides set to enter the wedlock.

Hindu families attach immense importance to the process of purchasing mangalasutras ahead of wedding ceremonies and Indian Hindu women consider the mangalasutras divine as they symbolize eternal love and commitment between the bride and the groom.
