Bengaluru Metro’s Leap into the Future: First Driverless Train Arrives for Yellow Line

After experiencing considerable delays, Bengaluru Metro’s first driverless train for the Yellow Line (RV Road – Bommasandra) has arrived from China at the Chennai port. This six-coach train, which is a prototype for the Electronics City Metro line, was shipped from Shanghai and is now set to undergo a series of processes including customs clearance and transportation to Bengaluru. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is overseeing its journey to the Hebbagodi depot near Electronics City. The train will undergo extensive testing, including 37 different tests over four months, followed by 45 days of signaling tests, to ensure safety and efficiency for its future operation on Bengaluru’s Metro lines.
